"Independent Talents" (Nr.01)

Überall dort, wo Gebrauchsgegenstände als nicht funktional ausrangiert werden und sich in
einer existentiellen Sinnkrise befinden, ist das Einsatzgebiet von Dr. Livingsten. Dient seine
Arbeit zunächst der Rehabilitation der erniedrigten, gedemütigten Objekte, so muss er bald
zu seiner Verwunderung feststellen, dass die Dinge sich ihrer vermeintlichen Eigenschaften
und Funktionen entledigt und eigenständige Begabungen entwickelt haben, die ihm bisher
entgangen und völlig unbekannt waren. Er wird Zeuge einer überraschenden Emanzipation
der Dinge und neuer, rätselhafter Gesetzmäßigkeiten.
Wherever objects suffer from existential fear because they are discarded for not being functional
anymore, Dr. Livingsten is ready to help. First he tries to improve the mental conditions of his
degraded and humiliated clients. But to his great amazement, he soon recognizes that the items
got rid of their special functions and their supposed characteristics. They are developing
independent talents. Dr. Livingsten becomes a witness of a surprising emancipation of the objects
and of a new mysterious regularity and lawfulness. By his attempt to study and to understand their
strange resistance he gets dragged deeper and deeper into the jungle of things. (Thorsten Tenberken)

"Roses of Symbiosis" (about the Videoinstallation)

Die Videoinstallation "Die Rose der Symbiose" zeigt in 8 Videoschlaufen Dr. Livingstens
unermüdlichen Überlebenskampf im undurchdringlichen Dickicht aus mysteriösen Zeichen
und verschwörerischen Gebrauchsgegenständen. Wissenschaftlicher Ordnungswille und
irrlichternde Sinnstiftung haben für ihn abenteuerliche Folgen. Die Installation besteht
aus sieben Monitoren und einer Großprojektion
In 8 video-loops "The Roses of Symbiosis" shows Dr. Livingsten´s tireless battle of
survival in an impenetrable jungle consisting of mysterious signs and hostile objects.
Dr. Livingsten’s scientific conception of order and tidiness and his flickering idea of
sense create adventurous consequences. The installation consists out of 7 monitors
standing on pedestals and of one big video projection.
